8th Grade Math and Religion
I am blessed and honored to be a new member of the faculty at St. Ann Catholic School. Middle schoolers have a special place in my heart. I feel called to bring them closer to Christ while helping them excel academically.
My family moved to Overland Park in 1969. My mom and dad were charter members of Holy Cross parish, and I have been a parishioner there most of my life. After graduating from Shawnee Mission South High School, I attended Kansas State University where I received my BS in Secondary Education: Biology, Chemistry, and Earth Science. My husband, Brad, and I met at K-State and will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in 2017. We have five children ages 20, 18, 15, 12, and 3.
My teaching experience goes back almost 25 years, beginning in a public middle school outside Chapel Hill, North Carolina where I taught science. We moved back to Kansas after my husband finished graduate school in NC. I fell in love with Catholic schools teaching and coaching at Bishop Miege High School. After our oldest was born, I decided to leave Miege to stay at home with our growing family. In 2009, after being home many years, I went back to classroom to teach middle school math and religion at Holy Cross Catholic School. God had even bigger plans for our family when, in 2012, he blessed us with our fifth baby. In 2013, I made the hard decision to leave Holy Cross to be home with him.
It is with the help of the Holy Spirit guiding us that I look forward to working together with parents and my fellow teachers to develop each child's mathematical and spiritual potential.
